Keld Helmer-Petersen: Black Light
I created a photo book in the style of Kled Helmer-Petersen who's work included black and white images with all mid tones removed. I recreated my own images in his style, contrasting the colours largely and created black and white images. The photo book I created was A2 sized which I folded into 16 equal a5 sized rectangles, I then cut 3 along landscape side on either side so I was able to fold the paper up into a 2 sided book with opened up into a2. on one side I placed the imaged on the open a2 which meant that there was an aspect of surprise when I folded the paper up into the book, I found that sometimes there where no images on a page and other times there was half an image on a page. on the opposite side I placed the images on each page whilst in the book form, and when opened into a2 it was more neat.

His book includes a lot of negative white space, which contrasts with the total black image.
some images go across the spread of 2 pages. his photographs consist of only black and white with no mid tones which create an amazing contrast between objects and the background. |
