ISO
ISO is the measurement of light sensitivity. The lower the ISO, the less light it allows in meaning this setting is perfect for bright settings such as natural lighting. The higher the ISO the more light it allows in meaning this is ideal for a dark setting such as indoors. However the higher the ISO the more noise there is meaning the grainier the image is, so shooting at the lowest ISO is most desirable as it creates a clearer image.
APERTURE
The aperture is the size of the opening of the lense. Aperture is measured in f-stops (f/1.8, f/2.8, f/3.5, f/4, f/5.6, f/6.3, f/8, f/11, f/16, f/22…). The lower the number (f/1.8) the larger the opening in the lens or the more light reaches the sensor, and the larger the number (f/22) the smaller the opening in the lens or the less light that gets to the sensor.
It controls what is in focus, in other words the depth of field. The lower the aperture (f-stop number) the more open the lense is the shallower depth of field making the background more blurry and focusing on the subject closest to the lense.

Shutter speed
Shutter speed is the amount of time the shutter is open. It is how fast or slow the camera captures the image. The slower the shutter speed the more light that reaches the sensor and the faster the shutter speed the less light reaches the sensor.A faster the shutter speed, the crisper an image will be, which would be perfect for action motion images such as wildlife or racing. For a blurred waterfall effect the more light would need to get to the sensor meaning the shutter speed must be slow.
The camera can be hand held for anything that falls above 1/50. Anything below this will need to be held on a tripod so that the image won't be blurry.
